Do Our Pets In Spirit Visit Us?

All of us who have had pets as a part of our family have experienced a profound sense of grief and loss when they pass into the Spirit World. The question is, do they stay connected to us after they have passed, and are they able to visit us from the Spirit World?

I truly believe the answer is a resounding YES.

Long before I began actively studying and practicing Evidential Mediumship, I had experienced visitations from beloved pets who had passed into Spirit in so many ways ranging from actually seeing their image, hearing their bark or distinctive sound and feeling them around me. Pets have often showed up during readings for my Sitters/Recipients, and have proven to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that they visit us often. In this post, I will include a few stories of how beloved pets in Spirit have communicated with me to make me acutely aware of their presence.

  • I have had many dogs in my life, but one stands out in particular as my "Soul Dog." His name is Cody and he is a Jack Russell Terrier. Cody passed away in 2010 at the age of 13 due to complications from cancer. I adopted him as a tiny pup from a shelter where I worked at the time, and it was love at first sight. In the spring of 2014, I had moved into a lovely rental home in the mountains of Northern California with my then boyfriend (now husband). Standing in the living room looking out between the slats of the vertical blinds that were hung on three large picture windows overlooking huge redwood trees and a creek, I said out loud, "Cody, I wish you could be here as you would love living in this place." No sooner than the words left my lips, a streak of white mist raced across the living room floor and whipped past the windows, moving all the slats of the vertical blinds violently in its wake. I looked at my boyfriend and was sure that he had seen this as he was standing next to me slack jawed. My eyes teared up with happiness in knowing that Cody had come to visit.

  • During a reading, I was receiving communication from the Soul of a young man who had passed suddenly and unexpectedly. This young male was my Sitter's son who she had been longing to hear from. After some time where the young man described many details about himself as well as specific memories he had shared with his mother, I saw the Spirit of a small tan scruffy dog enter the room and meander underneath the desk where I was sitting during the reading. The young man told me that this was his dog, and he wanted me to thank his mother for keeping the dog after he passed. I relayed this information to his mother, and she confirmed that she did indeed have her son's dog and had no intentions of finding him another home.

  • Very recently, I had felt the urge to create an altar of photographs on a shelf that is built in to the wall of my home. I filled six large shelves with framed photos of family members, friends and pets who have passed into the Spirit World. The last shelf I filled was with photos of many of the dogs in my lifetime that I have considered family members who are now in Spirit. One dog in particular was a Boston Terrier named Zoe who passed in 2017 due to complications from Cushing's Syndrome. My husband and I were getting ready to go to bed and were standing in front of the finished altar. I commented about how much I missed all the dogs, but how Zoe's stubborn personality stood out, how strong of a presence she had been in my life and that I missed her terribly, even if she snorted and snored and kept me awake at night sometimes (our dogs are always allowed to sleep in our bed if they wish). We all (myself, my husband and our two dogs) then settled into our king size bed. Just as I was falling asleep, I felt something jump up onto the bed on my side, and could feel the pressure of a smaller animal walking across my feet/ankles. I sat up to check that our two dogs (which are both 50 lbs each) were still sleeping cozily in between us. Everyone, including my husband, was asleep but me at this point. I said to myself silently, "Zoe, is that you?" My answer was an audible snort to let me know that she was there. I silently told her how much I missed her and that she is always welcome to snuggle with us whenever she wants. I felt the weight of her body settle in next to me on the edge of the bed where she always slept and was comforted by her presence as I fell asleep.

Have you had any experiences like these? If so, I'd love to hear about them as I believe our beloved pets are always watching over us, much like our loved ones in the Spirit World.

Thank you for reading and as always, until next time, many blessings.
